 HFHIC
is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a
nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for
Humanity of Independence County works in partnership with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at
no profit and with no interest charged.Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Back To Top |

Applications for Fourth Habitat Home Are Now AvailableIf your family is living in substandard housing, is willing to put in up to 400 hours of sweat equity (working on your house and another family's house), and can meet modest financial requirements, you may want to apply to be a Habitat for Humanity partner family. If you have questions and are interested in obtaining an application you can call Pat Dunegan at 870-793-9104 or e-mail info@independencehabitat.org. Second Home at 415 Ferrell StreetThe Lewis home was completed in November, 2011. Scores of volunteers came out to work every Saturday. Third Home on Boggs StreetConstruction on the third house will begin in the spring of 2012. If you are interested in helping out, please e-mail info@independencehabitat.org. We would love to partner with you as we partner with our next Habitat family. A New Public Park in West BatesvilleHabitat for Humanity of Independence County and the City of Batesville are partnering to install a city park in the midst of the four lots bounded by Ferrell, Grace, and Boggs Streets where four homes will be built.
